Frequently asked questions
General
In the week leading up to your appointment, avoid trying anything new with your skincare routine. This includes waxing, facials, or other treatments you haven’t done before, as they can cause unexpected reactions. Stick to your usual cleansing and moisturizing routine, and on the day of your appointment, come with a clean, bare face and your regular moisturizer applied. I’ll re-prep your skin before applying makeup to ensure the best, long-lasting result.
There’s a common myth that “dirty" hair styles better, but this doesn’t mean unwashed or oily hair. Clean hair is actually ideal for styling — I can always “dirty it up” with the right products to add grip and hold. Wash your hair the night before or morning of your appointment, and let it fully air dry or blow dry it - blow drying does give the best results if you're able to. If your roots tend to get oily, a double shampoo helps, followed by conditioner only on your mid-lengths and ends. Avoid straightening your hair if you’re planning curls or waves, and skip any heavy products that could weigh it down.
I bring a full professional hair and makeup kit to every appointment to set up at your location, so nearby parking is essential. Please ensure there’s a clean, well-lit space (natural light preferred) with a power outlet, table or bench space, and a standard-height chair. Each appointment takes around 45–60 minutes per person, and keeping to the schedule ensures everything runs smoothly for your special day.
For safety and hygiene reasons, please keep small children and pets out of the immediate area during styling — hot tools and open products will be in use.
Yes! I highly recommend booking a trial session, especially for brides, so you can preview your hair and makeup look in advance. Trials give us the opportunity to experiment with styles, colors, and techniques to see what feels and looks best for you — nothing is set in stone. The goal is to find a look that complements you and makes you feel confident, relaxed, and beautiful on your special day. Trials are priced the same as any other hair or makeup service, please see my services page for more details.
I provide a complimentary touch-up kit that includes a small portion of your lipstick, blotting papers, Q-tips, and extra bobby pins — everything you’ll need to stay fresh all day. I’ll also guide you during your appointment on how to do any small touch-ups yourself if needed.
Most makeup and hairstyles are designed to last all day (12+ hours), but keep in mind that extreme weather conditions like humidity, rain, or strong wind can affect longevity. In those cases, I recommend choosing an up-style for better hold and durability.
Yes! My business is primarily mobile and I travel all over Southeast Queensland. Depending on the location, travel fees may apply. Please refer to my services page for more pricing information or send me an enquiry. For distances greater than 100km, a minimum booking is required. In some cases, I can book small appointments at my home studio in Brassall, Ipswich for a discounted rate.
I use a wide range of high-end professional makeup brands in my kit, including Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup, Motives Cosmetics, NARS, Tarte, Natasha Denona, Hourglass, MAC, Estee Lauder, Morphe, Jeffree Star, Makeup Forever, and many, many more. Every product I use has been thoroughly tested and proven to deliver long-lasting, beautiful results. I only work with products that I trust to perform well on all skin types, photograph flawlessly, and withstand Queensland’s heat and humidity. I can also work around your unique skin's needs should you like to avoid any particular products or ingredients, or if you prefer to use some of your own products during your application. Please advise me of any concerns you may have upon enquiring :)
